Abstract

In May 2024, there was a year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation of 3.09 percent in Lampung Province, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 107.43. The highest inflation occurred in East Lampung Regency at 4.41 percent, with a CPI of 109.98, while the lowest inflation occurred in Metro City at 2.25 percent, with a CPI of 105.42.

The year-on-year inflation happened due to price increases indicated by the rise in most expenditure groups' indices (inflation): the food, beverage, and tobacco group experienced inflation of 7.22 percent; the clothing and footwear group 3.50 percent; the housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels group 0.66 percent; the household equipment and routine household maintenance group 0.66 percent; the transportation group 0.40 percent; the education group 2.72 percent; the restaurant and hotel group 0.97 percent; and the personal care and other services group 2.54 percent. Meanwhile, expenditure groups experiencing index decreases (deflation) were the health group at 0.34 percent; the communication, information, and financial services group at 0.41 percent; and the recreation, sports, and culture group at 0.27 percent.

The month-to-month (m-to-m) inflation rate for May 2024 was recorded at 0.08 percent, and the year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation rate for May 2024 experienced inflation of 0.64 percent.
