Taking advantage of the recess period, a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) faction, Dr. Almuzzamil Yusuf, made a working visit to South Lampung Regency, which is one of his electoral districts (dapil) in Lampung Province. The visit aims to accommodate constituent aspirations and supervise government work programs. On that occasion, he scheduled a working visit to the BPS of South Lampung Regency on Monday, December 23, 2024. Accompanied by Bowo Edy Anggoro, a member of the South Lampung DPRD and his team, the group was greeted by the Head of South Lampung BPS Arif Rahman Maulana and the heads of the BPS work team functions, followed by a dialogue and casual chat with all employees.
The visit to South Lampung BPS aims to absorb and accommodate the aspirations of regional BPS employees in order to complete the new statistics bill which is currently in the process of being proposed in the Indonesian House of Representatives. In his introduction, he said that so far BPS data has always been used as a source of data in criticizing, reviewing and analyzing government programs, and hopes for a single data managed by BPS which is used as the basis for every government policy-making. Considering the role of BPS which is currently the mainstay of strategic data and information references, it is necessary to have support for strengthening the central and regional BPS institutions, one of which is by passing a new statistics law.
Discussion and aspirations of employees regarding Strengthening BPS institutions through Laws and producing new regulations so as to increase the response rate, especially for large and medium-sized company/industry data, and facilitate coordination with agencies/institutions in helping to build sectoral statistical data which in the Statistics Law, BPS plays a role as a statistical supervisor for regional agencies/institutions.
