Pasuruan Tengah Village, 16 May 2024 – Head of BPS (Central Statistics Agency) of Lampung Province, Mr. Atas Parlindungan Lubis, and Head of BPS of Lampung Selatan Regency, Arif Rahman Maulana, went directly to Pasuruan Tengah Village, Penengahan District, Lampung Selatan Regency, to carry out checks grain price. This activity aims to obtain accurate grain price data directly from farmers in the field.
In interviews conducted at the harvest location, it was discovered that the farmers sold their grain to local collectors. Each sack of grain weighs an average of 80 kg (gross weight). Based on information from farmers, the current transaction price for grain is IDR 4,800 per kilogram.
After being purchased by local collectors, the grain will be sent to Java to meet the high market demand there. At a price of IDR 4,800 per kilogram, one sack of grain weighing around 80 kg has a transaction value of IDR 384,000.
Farmers stated that the price was quite stable and in line with their expectations, although they continued to hope that prices could increase further in the future. Sending grain to Java is considered profitable because the selling price there is usually higher compared to the local market.
This price checking activity is important to ensure farmers get a fair price and to monitor price dynamics in the market. Regular checks will help in maintaining transparency and welfare of farmers in the area.
